你好!preserve主要是保留;保护;保存;维护的意思,用在环境保护方面主要表示使环境保持自然的本色,所以是比较含蓄而有内涵的表述.而protect则是我们平时所说的保护,比较直截了当的表述.仅代表个人观点,不喜勿喷,谢谢.

个人意见.prevent sb.\sth. from 后面多加 doing, 意味“防止某人做某事”;而protect sb\sth. 后面多加against,即使跟着from,也是from sth.比较多.比如这句话里,如果要用protectfrom..的话,应该改成:the sunglasses protect our eyes from the intense heat.
